Core Beliefs of Dispensationalism

  1. Seven Dispensations of History & Progressive Revelation (link) - History is divided into distinct dispensations, each with unique rules of how God governs human behaviour. God reveals His plan gradually over these dispensations.

  2. Distinction between ethnic Israel and the Church (link) - God's covenant plans are different for Israel and the Church.

  3. Literal Interpretation of Scripture (link) - Scripture must be interpreted literally, according to grammatical, historical, and genre contexts, to find the "plain meaning" of the text.

  4. Pre-Tribulation Rapture (link)& The Great Tribulation (link) - Believers are "raptured" away to escape a 7-year earthly tribulation, followed by the literal 1,000 year reign of Christ on Earth (a premillenial Futurist View).

  5. Future Restoration of Israel (link) - God's ultimate plan was for Israel and once the Church has been removed/raptured, He will restore Israel to their ancestral lands and re-instate the Levitical sacrificial system during the Millennium
